CONGRATULATIONS – RED BULL RACING ON TOP AT SEASON OPENER

RB-NEWS-2

Red Bull Racing Australia has completed an extremely impressive debut season opener at the 2014 Clipsal 500 in Adelaide. Red Bull Racing Australia successfully stood on top of the podium both races Saturday convincingly.

Saturday Race One: FIRST
Race Two: THIRD
Sunday Race Three: FIFTEENTH

“Saturday was a great day for the sport and that’s what matters. In race two (2) I didn’t give up till the end,” said Whincup. “We have one win under our belt from today but we’re still a little rusty for round one (1) but we’ll sort that out. We’re lucky to have the momentum from last season and still have good pace which helped us through today.”

“Sunday obviously wasn’t our day,” said Whincup. “I came here to try and get on the top step. I’ve been close the last couple of years but just haven’t managed to get there.”

Craig Lowndes (Red Bull Racing Australia)
Saturday Race One: SECOND
Race Two: FIRST
Sunday Race Three: SECOND

“Saturday’s race two (2) I knew I had to be good off the grid and I managed a rocket start and got away,” said Lowndes. “To be fair I prefer the longer races but the new format was definitely exciting and entertaining. Hopefully the fans enjoyed the later start, the cooler weather and maybe even saw a disk or two (2) glowing.”

“Sunday we put the Holden on the line till the end to try and make an opportunity in that final lap,” said Lowndes. “Overall it was a fantastic weekend. We had multiple winners, multiple manufacturers on the podium and I think the category is really healthy.”

WILL DAVISON – WEEKEND DEBUT ENDS IN THE WALL

DAVISON-NEWS

Lusty Industries and Distributors OGIO Motorsport brand ambassador Will Davison’s (Erebus Motorsport) weekend at the Clipsal 500 ended in the wall. After passing more cars than any other competitor in Saturday’s split two-race 250km leg. Davison’s race on Sunday ended early when a rub with another competitor sent him into the wall at the ultra-fast turn eight (8).

“It was certainly not the (V8 Supercar) debut for Erebus I was hoping for,”Will Davison admitted.

“We struggled a bit to unlock the speed in the car in qualifying, it was just such a different car to drive, but in the race it was good,” said Davison. “I was able to pass people and make some real progress. I am just so disappointed for Erebus it’s no the way I wanted to end it. “ We’ll regroup and go again at the Grand Prix in two weeks time.”

CHAZ MOSTERT – FINISH’S CLIPSAL ON A LOW

CHAZ-NEWS

Lusty Industries and Distributors Troy Lee Designs /Ethika Motorsport brand ambassador Chaz Mostert (Pepsi Max FPR ford) has finished his debut weekend at the Clipsal 500 for Team Pepsi Max FPR ford Racing on a low. Despite his impressive qualifying times back luck struck the likeable young athlete.

Chaz Moster (Pepsi Max FPR Ford)
Saturday Race One: ELEVNTH
Race Two: THENTH
Sunday Race Three: DNF

“It was probably the worst debut possible,” said Mostert. “You never want to end a race meeting with a really crashed car but unfortunately the new safety car restarts seem to cause a lot of crashes. It was terrible to get into turn one and see cars everywhere. It was a bit of a NASCAR moment as I encountered cars, dust and debris everywhere and just hoped I wouldn’t hit anyone. Someone bounced off the tyre wall right in front of me and I had nowhere to go. We have to get the car fixed and get it to Albert Park and see if we can have a good run there.”

TOBY PRICE GOES DOWN SWINGING

TOBY-NEWS

Lusty Industries and Distributors athlete Toby Price (KTM Enduro Racing) within just six points of eventual winner Chris Hollis (CDR Yamaha), but was unable to realise his ambition of winning the inaugural KTM Enduro-X Nationals championship, as the series concluded at Melbourne’s Calder Park.

“That was all I could come up with today, I had a chance at one stage but I probably tried to rush it a little bit and blew it, but that’s racing, that’s how it goes. I sound like a broken record, I can see that first race win coming but it just hasn’t happened yet,” said Price.

“Next I’m heading out to Finke for some testing and a bit of promotional work with the desert racing team and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s going to be a big contrast going from slow technical riding to hanging on for grim life – I can’t wait.”
