Newcastle, NSW Australia July 3rd, – TLD / Lucas Oil / Honda Sandblasts Southwick One Last Time.
Last Saturday marked the end of an era as the Motocross 338 venue in Southwick, Massachusetts, hosted it’s last professional motocross races. The Troy Lee Designs gang headed to “The ‘Wick” to rail those deep, sandy berms one last time.
California native Cole Seely has had his struggles so far this summer, showing flashes of speed, but struggling to post results indicative of his true potential. This weekend things went better for Cole as he secured a 6th place finish overall in the 250 class. The opening moto saw Seely inside the top ten for much of the race. After circulating in 6th for most of the moto, he lost two positions near the end of the race and finished 8th. The second and final moto was a near repeat of the first one. Cole jumped out to a great start and hung on to the lead pack for the majority of the race. This time, however, he would move forward in the closing laps and finish 7th, a result that would slide him to 6th overall on the day.
Malcolm Stewart got a rough start in moto 1 of the 450 class, rounding turn one in 15th, but quickly pushed his way forward through the Southwick sand. He made it all the way to 11th before a crash dropped him back to 22nd. He sprinted back towards the front only to crash again and finish the opening moto in 20th. In the second moto, Stewart started in 12th and put in a solid, steady ride for 9th. His two motos combined would give him 17th overall.
The team will move their show to Red Bud Track and Trail for the Fourth of July extravaganza in Michigan next weekend. Team riders Jessy Nelson andChristian Craig continue to mend in anticipation of their return. Be sure to stop by the team transporter and meet the riders this weekend if you are in Michigan.
